Bow hold: Should be not tight rather flexible. The thumb goes under the grip in order to have a circle-wise shape. It most likely will try to slip out of place and that is why the hand should be rounded. Non bow stroke is the same, as they differ in pressure, in speed, in weight, in articulation as it is determined by the connection between the same. The spiccato is truly a difficult stroke, that most of the time will allow for finding the balance point, I practice it for accuracy in the wrist motion, and in order to loosen my arm. The connection between notes could be primarily determine by the intension of the passage, some times the score will determined it by signaling with the appropriate Italian, German and even French notations, all these words most be studied and internalized, for the proper mood setting.
Score analysis: non violinist allows the music to easily flow through themselves with no previous understanding of the notes themselves as put together in a whole, most likely what happens is that the theory gives you a limited depth and the musician itself has to look towards creating what they logically understand from the composer, according to the historical background. Chords progressions will the determine the vertical and the horizontal relation of the music, as the two are related but not linked, the melody will carry the motion of the overall as it will appears not to have a sense of accompaniment.

Classical period execution: The pallet of expressions that a violinist has are like colors from a painter. I know that the necessity of a executant of Mozart and Haydn will not be equal to Tchaikovsky, in the sense that it will have a different direction, the bow starts and stops in a certain moment that is indicated by the note itself, as it will be matching the coordination between the instruments of the mall group. This is a period where instrumentalist relayed on the group music making instead of the individual solo.
